Martha’s Vineyard Residence
Although the room isn't extravagantly large, statement furniture can still fit comfortably. While no closet can be spotted in the 2014 real estate listing photo, Michelle's dressing room is likely a short walk from the master. But those aren't the only two places you could sit in the home back in 2014.
The Martha’s Vineyard property sits on 29.3 acres and features seven bedrooms, eight-and-a-half baths and several stone fireplaces. Before becoming a politician, Professor Obama taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago from 1993 until 2003. Allegedly, his favorite room was Room V in the law school building; you’ll enjoy walking amidst the gothic architecture and quiet spaces of campus (as I’m sure he did). There are various chanceries, churches, and private schools for the locals along the tree-lined streets, which are interspersed with beaux-arts buildings. Politico claims that the Obamas rented the $5 million residence for their daughter Sasha to finish high school.

About 18 months after buying the lot, the couple listed it at $1.3 million. It was on and off the market a few times over subsequent years, coming down to an asking price of $699,000 in March 2019. Rita Rezko sold the lot, in its reduced size, in December 2006 for $575,000. With the $104,500 from the Obamas, her proceeds totaled $679,000, a profit of $54,000.

Although inquiring minds want to know, we'll have to wait for the Obamas to dish the deets. It's hard to know how the Obamas feel about living so close to the 45th president, Donald Trump, and First Lady Melania, but nevertheless, they're practically neighbors. From the 2014 photos of the exterior of the home, it has all the markings of a classic Tudor, with its white-washed brick facade and steeply pitched roof, which appears to be slate. The family's house also sits up from the street, making it look even more stately. A simple curved path of steps leads you to the front entry beneath an aged copper portico. It somehow is both incredibly cozy and impressive all at the same time.

They are now establishing ties to the lovely villa they rented during the summer. You can see how private and isolated the Obamas' new house is from above. Several areas, including a formal living room, are available for the family to unwind.

Over the next two weeks, an additional tower crane will be used to construct the Museum Building. During a recent trip to Chicago, President Obama stopped by the construction site in Jackson Park to see the latest developments. While there, he took a tour of the site and met some of the talented tradespeople who are bringing the Center to life. Temporary lane reductions will go into place on Cornell Drive to the north and south of the Hayes Drive intersection.

Following are a few places to visit in Chicago—notable sites from his community organizing days on the South Side to his victorious election night celebration by the lake, to give you a sense of the presidential path through Chicago. The house has multiple stone fireplaces, seven bedrooms, and eight and a half bathrooms. According to the description on LandVest, the property also has direct access to the pond, a boat house, and a private beach with deeded rights. While the Obamas are currently residing in D.C., this has been their South Side home since they purchased the property in 2005. While technically located in the Kenwood neighborhood of Chicago, the beginning of the adjacent Hyde Park neighborhood is across the street and where you can hit all of the local spots.
A less formal sitting room in the home had a full wall of windows and French doors leading out to the backyard. While the less formal room also had the conversational seating and fireplace, a TV sat above the mantle in place of a large piece of art. So, if you're wondering where the former president and first lady binge-watch all their shows, it might just be in this room. As the couple's house was built in the early 1920s, a lack of closet space is not uncommon. Nevertheless, the home has obviously been updated since it was built and a dressing room — with wall-to-wall closets and an island for clothes storage — appears to have been added, according to the home's 2014 listing. Sure, Michelle could share part of the space with her husband, but who would want to do that?
He also has a home in Washington, D.C.’s Kalorama neighborhood and Martha’s Vineyard in Edgartown, Massachusetts. Presidential figures are among the most acclaimed figures in history, with Barack Obama being no exception. With such a famed man who lived eight years in the White House, it is an interesting question how many homes he owns now after presidency. This is where the former president and first lady settled with their family after leaving the White House.

It may feel like the Obamas only just moved into their Washington D.C. Mansion, but the $8.1 million property is not likely to be their forever home. The 44th president revealed to reporters , "We're going to have to stay a couple of years so Sasha can finish ." He continued, "Transferring someone in the middle of high school — tough." One of the coolest features of the Obamas' house is their basement. You may not think of a basement as being exciting, but hear us out.
Progress on constructing the Obama Presidential Center continues with relatively few inclement weather delays. Installation of sheeting all around the Museum, Forum, Library, and Garage structures is almost 50 percent complete. Work has begun to stabilize that sheeting and dewater the area within the sheeting, and the site is being readied for mass excavation which will become the foundation for the Museum, Forum, Library, and Garage structures. As House Beautiful reported, Michelle told Oprah Winfrey that it's "a couple miles away from the White House." In reality, it's only about 8 miles away, though with D.C. Traffic it could take over 20 minutes to end up at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. A better bet, at least for now, might be for the president to sell it to someone who wants to operate it as a bed-and-breakfast, or a museum or community organization of some kind that seeks to capitalize on his fame, Steele said.
Ultimately, these new traffic configurations will create better pedestrian connections between the adjacent community, Jackson Park and the lakefront, and better connect currently separated areas of Jackson Park to one another. Motorists that previously used South Midway Plaisance to connect to Cornell Drive will be directed to an alternate route. Starting no later than September 2, those drivers will still need to turn left and go north on Stony Island Avenue, but only to North Midway Plaisance. Starting this morning, Cornell Drive will begin to be narrowed from six lanes to four lanes between 59th Street and Hayes Drive. At the same time, the easternmost block of South Midway Plaisance, between Stony Island Avenue and Cornell Drive, will be permanently closed.
